Bird's Nest

Eagle's Nest is a secluded property located on the ridge of a private peninsula with incredible views across the Bay of Islands. Each self contained villa is different and the villas can be booked individually, as a combination, or your can take the entire property and accommodate up to 22 guests. This weekend the Presidential Villa has been booked for a wedding, the entire property is fully booked with my closest neighbour deciding to extend his stay... by another week!

My villa is First Light Temple, a one bedroom villa with the bedroom on the mezzanine level, floor to ceiling windows on 3 out of 4 sides, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities in the basement, a deck with sun loungers and hot tub set up a few steps with views that ensure you will want to stay a while.

The kitchen has been well stocked with breakfast options and there is so much food that I decide to stay and enjoy the facilities rather than head back into Russell for dinner.

After enjoying the hot tub I head back inside and turn on the log fire - not because it is cold but simply for the cosy glow it gives.

I wheel the oversized television to a strategic position (that does not block the view outside of course) and enjoy what Eagle's Nest is all about - seclusion, privacy, peace and serenity.

My stay here will not be long enough.
