The start of the Grand Tour and Good Morning Auckland

As the departure date drew nearer I questioned my wisdom of deciding to fly right through and not spend a night in a comfortable bed somewhere along the way. Now that I am here I am happy that I did so.

I am now sitting in the sun and enjoy my breakfast at the Sofitel whilst admiring the rather splendid array of boats moored in the marina in front.

It was worth it! It was so worth doing the trip in one go and not delaying my arrival. So worth going for a walk and a great dinner, so worth staying up until 9:30 as I slept almost 9 hours am I am now ready to face the day square on instead of through an expected haze.
